So this is pretty nuts. If you don't know already, I was adopted as a baby and searched for my biological mother when I was about 17. She is incredible and we have been close ever since. Now she has written a book about the experience of carrying a child (me) to term and then placing him (me) for adoption. It is a pretty amazing story, a really incredible read, and totally worth taking a look at. I am so proud of Nancy Murray's courage for putting this out there. Please check it out and pre-order the book.
The cover photo of the book is me. It is the first picture I sent to my biological mother when I was about 8 years old. I always knew I was adopted, my mother and father were always very impressively open about it. My mom would sit with me at night and comfort me, and then one day she suggested I write her a letter. I sent it to the adoption agency with a little Lego heart that was red on one side and blue on the other. I explained that it was blue because I was sad that I didn't know her and red because I loved her still.
This book is an impressive read and an intense story. There is hardship but in the end, it is very uplifting and hopeful. Please feel free to contact me if you have personal experiences or just want to talk to someone.
